It is said that a person should drink 8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy. But it may changed based on a person's body weight and physical conditions and lifestyle.
Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, united states reveals that men should be drink atleast 13 cups and women should take atleast nine cups of water a day. But as every body is different a formula can work out the exact amount of water you need.
Mayo Clinic had derived a formula based on your body weight for checking how much water you should be drinking:
Step 1: Take your weight in pounds (lbs) and divide it by 2.2. This will convert your weight in pounds into Kilograms.
Step 2: Multiply that number (Your weight in Kg) by your age.
Step 3: Divide that result by 28.3.
Step 4: The resultant value says how many ounces of water you should drink each day.
Divide that number by eight to see your result in cups.
Formula to calculate how much water a person should consume daily to stay healthy
Quantity of water in ounces = ( Your_Weight_in_Kilograms X Your_Age ) / 28.3
Quantity of water in ounces = ( ( Your_Weight_in_Pound / 2.2 ) X Your_Age ) / 28.3
Quantity of water in liters = ( ( Your_Weight_in_Kilograms X Your_Age ) / 28.3 ) X 0.03
Quantity of water in liters = ( ( ( Your_Weight_in_Pound / 2.2 ) X Your_Age ) / 28.3 ) X 0.03
Quantity of water in Cups = Amount of water in ounces / 8
